USS Defiant
The USS Defiant was a Federation vessel designed specifically for warfare that was commissioned to counter the Borg threat to the Federation. After several conflicts waged by the Federation they decided to make an exception to their rule of only building starships for exploration and research by creating a defence craft, initially labelled as an 'escort frigate', to function essentially as a warship.
Despite only being small, the Defiant was fitted with highly advanced weapons, engines and shields that could rival that of ships of the caliber of Voyager and the Enterprise. The Defiant was captained by Warf, following his term as the Enterprise weapons officer, as he was well versed in Borg combat. The Defiant took part in the Human-Borg War and was disabled whilst defending Earth. Luckily, the Enterprise was able to beam the crew away from the Defiant to prevent its destruction. It later led several important Federation missions in conflicts during the Human-Romulan War and many other wars, but it was eventually destroyed in a comparatively small skirmish with a strange alien race called the Breen, using their experimental energy-dampening weapon. Luckily, none of the crew were killed, and as they escaped the Breen were pushed back.
