Some examples of the League Security Forces, in this case the Police force.
The League Security Force (LSF) or League Police Force is the main civilian police of The League's territories. They are composed of five sections:
- Patrol - These are officers in uniform seen all around League planets. They are usually armed and equipped to respond to emergencies.
- Investigation - These are the detectives who investigate crimes and seek to bring the perpetrators to account.
- Customs - This branch is responsible for screening and scanning the millions of ships that pass through League territory every day. It is the largest branch of the LSF.
- Special Response - This branch is reponsible for responding to threats such as bombs or hostage situations in the event that the Military is not present.
- Cyber - Deals with cybercrimes such as hacking and data theft. They are very little in number, usually only one per world.
The LSF consists of many races that differ depending on the branch. Patrol and Investigation is almost all Elites, Turians, and Humans. Customs tends to be races with a bit more patience and less combat skill, such as Hanar. Special Response is usually Spec Ops Elites and the odd Geth or Dalek unit. Cyber is by far the most efficient consisting mainly of Geth. Due to their nature as AIs, they can manage the network very well and are adept at stopping the hacking attempts of other AIs with their electronic warfare packages.
The League enforces a pseudo-death penalty in which criminals are recomposed into a new form using the Composer. (This is not the same as tissue regeneration that gives you eternal life). Recomposition eliminates your memories, knowledge and personality and completely rebirths you as a new being, maybe even of a different species. League Judges like to choose the species based on the crime, for example, someone who murded a Hanar out of racism would be reborn as a Hanar. This method is far better than the original death penalty, which consisted of reducing criminals to compost. More petty crimes carry a community service punishment in construction, cleaning or repairing.
